Trader Joe’s Organic Pumpkin, a proprietary variety of Cucurbita pepo, comes from a family-owned farm in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. They grow the pumpkins, and they also handle the cleaning, peeling, cooking, canning, labeling, and shipping of said pumpkins. Modern business jargon calls this “vertical integration.” Jargon aside, we call it “some of the freshest-tasting canned pumpkin around,” primarily because the vine-ripened, certified-organic fruit is puréed within hours of harvest and packed on-site.
There’s nothing added – it’s just pumpkin – so you can use it in pies, cakes, breads, cookies, muffins, tarts, soups, smoothies, and any other favorites, and add only the spices and seasonings you want to make it just perfect… for you. (Or perhaps your dog. Yep. Our Organic Pumpkin is a real howler with canine companions across the land.)
